Answers to your most pressing questions:
Did the stories in this book actually happen?
Yes. We couldn’t make this stuff up. Have the stories been embroidered just a little? A whole lot less than most fishin’ and huntin’ stories. Why did you fudge names and characters? Vermont is a small state. We want to continue to live here. |
What about the characters?
The characters are composites – bits and pieces of many individuals. In most instances we have used wardens and innocent bystanders actual first names, but only after they swore up and down they wouldn’t sue us. The poachers names and physical descriptions are fabricated. But the scofflaws actions and convictions are real. |
Aren’t Vermont cruisers green?
How come Eric is driving a red one? Eric was assigned a red cruiser for a time for investigations. We thought a red car on the cover would get more people to pick up the book and help us sell more copies. You did buy this book, right? |
Disclaimer
Any resemblance to any individual, living or dead, is one heck of a coincidence. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

About the Author
Megan Price, the series creator and author, prefers the wacky hermit life.
She was born and raised in Vermont, worked as a reporter, elected to three terms in the Vermont Legislature, bought mountain land and hurt herself repeatedly trying to wield a chainsaw, drive a tractor and bulldozer alone in the woods with the goal of living in the woods and writing.
Through the years, she loved to hear and write stories.
When retired game warden Eric Nuse approached her to write his stories, she listened and realized Eric's stories combined history, conservation and humor.
"Vermont Wild Adventures of Fish & Game Wardens, Volume one" took several years to write. Once introduced, it sold out in days.
Armed with the knowledge that if Eric had good stories, so would other retired wardens, Megan searched for wardens willing to share their memories. Six more volumes of equally sensational warden adventures followed.
Today, there are seven volumes in all - six Vermont and one Maine (also a best seller there)
Now, Megan is TIRED! She'll let the stories speak for themselves.
Enjoy "Raccoon Revenge," "Moose Vesuvius," "Chuck Chase," "Snow Brawl," "Cadillac Jack," "Doug's Done" and more than 90 other game warden stories in the series.
You can choose any volume. You don't have to read the volumes order. Each book contains stand alone stories from 10 to 40 pages.
All the books contain friendly-family language. They're used as bedtime stories, taught in school, taken to hunting camp and read out loud in nursing homes.
The pix of the game wardens who contributed stories and lived to tell their tales to Megan are in each book!
Buy the books, laugh, marvel at how clever - and lucky - these fellows were working alone in the woods.
